Our Mission

The Berkeley Research Academy for Exceptional Talent and Mathematical Innovation is dedicated to advancing the foundations of algebra and geometry by uncovering the categorical structures that govern modern mirror symmetry. Building on the insight that deep geometric phenomena, such as homological mirror symmetry, can be presented with purely algebraic and categorical operations, the Academy develops new frameworks for modeling, decomposing, and reconstructing these mathematical objects. 

At the heart of our work lies the study of A∞-categories, Fukaya categories, and perverse schobers. By computing decisive examples and expanding the underlying theory in a coordinated way, we aim to transform these ideas from powerful abstractions into reliable working structures that can be shared, verified, and extended.

Looking forward, the Academy embraces the future of mathematical discovery by integrating formal verification and artificial intelligence into its research program. By designing theories that are compatible with proof assistants (Lean) and AI-assisted exploration, we seek not only to solve long-standing problems in algebra and geometry, but also to shape how mathematics itself is practiced in the decades to come.

We invite exceptional researchers and students to join us in this effort, to push the boundaries of algebra and geometry, build new bridges between theory and computation, and contribute to a lasting infrastructure for fundamental mathematics.

Academic & Research Advancement

Project Placement: Students are carefully matched with research problems aligned with their interests, strengths and talents​​​​

Paper Publishing: We ensure that the researcher will produce and publish a paper through this academy. We provide comprehensive support through the entire research process, including writing, revision and submission to appropriate venues.

Support and Resources

Mentors: We provide direct guidance and supervision from researchers, postdocs, graduate students, and domain experts. â€‹â€‹â€‹

Talent Development: Beyond intellectual growth, we also focus on talent building in mathematical reasoning, research methods, and technical communication.

Recognition & Awards

Awards: We offer research awards ranging from $500 to $10,000 for papers that demonstrate originality, rigor, technical depth, and impact. 
 

Recognition: We host annual recognition events every summer to provide researchers an opportunity to present and share their work with our community.

Our Vision

The Berkeley Research Academy for Exceptional Talent and Mathematical Innovation aims to become a stable, long-term platform for doing fundamental mathematics at scale. Using machine learning, formal verification, and computational tools, we hope to reduce structural bottlenecks in research, solve long-standing mathematical problems, and create a framework that is cumulative, verifiable, and designed to persist beyond individual projects, positions, or institutions.

Mathematics

Engage directly with open research problems in pure and applied mathematics. Contribute theoretical results, computational work, or formal proofs, and develop research toward technical reports or publications.

Computer Science / Technology

Support mathematical research through computation, machine-learning tools, and formal verification (e.g. Lean). Work at the interface between theory and implementation to enable new research directions.

Business / Law

Help build the institutional, legal, and strategic foundations of the academy. Contribute to funding strategy, partnerships, negotiations, and long-term sustainability alongside active researchers.
